Load and unload device drivers

ID: oval:org.secpod.oval:def:22651Date: (C)2015-01-07   (M)2018-07-10
Class: COMPLIANCEFamily: windows

This policy setting allows users to dynamically load a new device driver on a system. An attacker could potentially use this capability to install malicious code that appears to be a device driver. This user right is required for users to add local printers or printer drivers in Windows Vista. When configuring a user right in the SCM enter a comma delimited list of accounts. Accounts can be either local or located in Active Directory, they can be groups, users, or computers. Fix: (1) GPO: Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\User Rights Assignment!Load and unload device drivers (2) WMI: root\rsop\computer#RSOP_UserPrivilegeRight#AccountList#UserRight='SeLoadDriverPrivilege' and precedence=1
