Denial of service vulnerability in Putty leading to Windows GUI hang - CVE-2021-33500ID: oval:org.secpod.oval:def:72124 | Date: (C)2021-05-25 (M)2022-10-10 |
Class: VULNERABILITY | Family: windows |
The host is installed with Putty before 0.75 and is prone to a denial of service vulnerability. A flaw is present in the application, which fails to properly handle the execution of a simple command to repeatedly change the terminals title. Successful exploitation could allow attackers to make the remote servers to cause a denial of service (Windows GUI hang) by telling the PuTTY window to change its title repeatedly at high speed, which results in many SetWindowTextA or SetWindowTextW calls.
