The host is installed with VMware Workstation 16.x before 16.2.0 and is prone to a heap-overflow vulnerability. A flaw is present in the application, which fails to handle an issue in the CD-ROM device emulation. Successful exploitation allows attackers with access to a virtual machine with CD-ROM device emulation to exploit this vulnerability in conjunction with other issues to execute code on the hypervisor from a virtual machine.
