Remote code execution vulnerability in ClamAV via a skewed offsetID: oval:org.secpod.oval:def:15471 | Date: (C)2013-09-20 (M)2022-10-10 |
Class: VULNERABILITY | Family: macos |
The host is installed with Apple Mac OS X 10.6 through 10.6.8 or Mac OS X Lion 10.7 through 10.7.5 and is prone to remote code execution vulnerability. The flaw is present in the Integer underflow in the cli_scanpe function in pe.c in ClamAV before 0.97.8, which fails to handle a skewed offset larger than the size of the PE section in a UPX packed executable, which triggers an out-of-bounds read. Successful exploitation allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash).
