The host is installed with Wireshark 0.99.7 through 1.0.3 and is prone to denial of service vulnerability. A flaw is present in the wtap.c, which fails to properly handle malformed Tamos CommView capture file (aka .ncf file) with an "unknown/unexpected packet type" that triggers a failed assertion. Successful exploitation allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application abort).
