Denial of service vulnerability in OpenSSL via invalid encoded length vectors

ID: oval:org.secpod.oval:def:20026Date: (C)2014-07-01   (M)2023-11-09
Class: VULNERABILITYFamily: windows

The host is installed with OpenSSL before 0.9.8k and is prone to denial of service vulnerability. A flaw is present in the application, which fails to properly handle vectors that trigger printing of a (1) BMPString or (2) UniversalString with an invalid encoded length. Successful exploitation could allow remote attackers to cause a denial of service (invalid memory access and application crash).
