Vulnerability in windows Kernel-Mode Driver could allow elevation of privilege - MS15-008ID: oval:org.secpod.oval:def:23098 | Date: (C)2015-01-14 (M)2021-09-11 |
Class: PATCH | Family: windows |
The host is missing a moderate security update according to Microsoft security bulletin, MS15-008. The update is required to fix an elevation of privilege vulnerability. A flaw is present in the WebDAV Kernel-Mode Driver, which fails to properly handle a specially crafted application. An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could bypass impersonation-level security and gain elevated privileges on a targeted system, which could allow them to intercept WebDAV requests for files from any server (including corporate SharePoint sites) and redirect those file requests to return any, potentially malicious, files of the attackers choosing.
