The host is installed with VMware Workstation 7.x before 7.1.6 and 8.x before 8.0.4 or VMware Player 3.x before 3.1.6 and 4.x before 4.0.4 and is prone to a denial of service vulnerability. A flaw is present in the application, which fails to handle a crafted Checkpoint file. Successful exploitation allow user-assisted remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on the host OS or cause a denial of service (memory corruption) on the host OS.
