Information disclosure vulnerability in the DES and Triple DES ciphers used in the TLS, SSH, IPSec protocols, other protocols and products - CVE-2016-2183

ID: oval:org.secpod.oval:def:38740Date: (C)2017-01-18   (M)2024-03-22
Class: VULNERABILITYFamily: windows

The host is installed with the DES and Triple DES ciphers and is prone to an information disclosure vulnerability. A flaw is present in the applications, which fail to properly handle the DES and Triple DES ciphers, as used in the TLS, SSH, IPSec protocols, other protocols and products. Successful exploitation allows remote attackers to obtain cleartext data via a birthday attack against a long-duration encrypted session, as demonstrated by an HTTPS session using Triple DES in CBC mode, aka a "Sweet32" attack.
