The host is installed with Wireshark 1.8.x before 1.8.2 and is prone to an integer signedness error vulnerability. A flaw is present in the application, which fails to handle the vwr_read_rec_data_ethernet function in wiretap/vwr.c in the Ixia IxVeriWave file parser. Successful exploitation allows user-assisted remote attackers to execute arbitrary code.
