Address bar spoofing vulnerability in Google Chrome when instant extended mode is used (Mac OS X)ID: oval:org.secpod.oval:def:23863 | Date: (C)2015-03-18 (M)2023-11-16 |
Class: VULNERABILITY | Family: macos |
The host is installed with Google Chrome before 41.0.2272.76 and is prone to an address bar spoofing vulnerability. A flaw is present in the application when Instant Extended mode is used, which does not properly consider the interaction between the "1993 search" features and restore-from-disk RELOAD transitions. Successful exploitation makes it easier for remote attackers to spoof the address bar for a search-results page by leveraging (1) a compromised search engine or (2) an XSS vulnerability in a search engine.
