Arbitrary code execution vulnerability in Puppet and Puppet Enterprise

Deprecated
ID: oval:org.secpod.oval:def:5913Date: (C)2012-06-01   (M)2024-02-08
Class: VULNERABILITYFamily: windows

The host is installed with Puppet 2.6.x before 2.6.15 or 2.7.x before 2.7.13 or Puppet Enterprise 2.5.0 and is prone to arbitrary code execution vulnerability. A flaw is present in the applications, which fail to properly handle file bucket requests. Successful exploitation allows attackers with agent SSL keys and file-creation permissions on the puppet master to execute arbitrary commands by creating a file whose full pathname contains shell metacharacters, then performing a filebucket request.
