Denial of service vulnerability in Wireshark - CVE-2021-4185ID: oval:org.secpod.oval:def:76877 | Date: (C)2022-01-03 (M)2023-12-02 |
Class: VULNERABILITY | Family: windows |
The host is installed with Wireshark 3.4.0 before 3.4.11 or 3.6.0 before 3.6.1 and is prone to a denial-of-service vulnerability. A flaw is present in the application, which fails to properly handle the RTMPT dissector crash issue. Successful exploitation could allow attackers to make Wireshark consume excessive CPU resources by injecting a malformed packet onto the wire or by convincing someone to read a malformed packet trace file.
