Denial of service vulnerability in Wireshark via packet injection or crafted capture file - CVE-2023-1994ID: oval:org.secpod.oval:def:89137 | Date: (C)2023-04-14 (M)2024-01-04 |
Class: VULNERABILITY | Family: windows |
The host is installed with Wireshark 3.6.0 before 3.6.13 or Wireshark 4.0.0 before 4.0.5 and is prone to a denial of service vulnerability. A flaw is present in the application, which fails to properly handle the issue in GQUIC dissector. Successful exploitation could allow attackers to make Wireshark consume excessive CPU resources by injecting a malformed packet onto the wire or by convincing someone to read a malformed packet trace file.
