Integer Overflow vulnerability in PuTTY via an ECH escape sequenceID: oval:org.secpod.oval:def:33357 | Date: (C)2016-03-14 (M)2023-03-24 |
Class: VULNERABILITY | Family: windows |
The host is installed with PuTTY before 0.66 and is prone to an integer overflow vulnerability. The flaw is present in the application, which fails to handle an ECH (erase characters) escape sequence with a large parameter value, which triggers a buffer underflow. Successful exploitation could allow remote attackers to cause a denial of service (memory corruption) or possibly execute arbitrary code.
